Cascade Scares Halloween pumpkin contest
This year’s Halloween bonfire was a great success. Trick treaters stopped by to enjoy hot beverages, as well as food and candy distributed by volunteers. The bonfire was well attended and provided a great gathering place for residents to celebrate Halloween.
Frank Walsh, president of the Tumbler Ridge Lions Club, stated that it was “one of the best, if not the best, bonfires we’ve had in the past six years.” Tumbler Ridge Lions club members were on hand to help out with the distribution of hot beverages as well as food and also helped with the set up and take down of event. “Anything to do with the community especially with children you’ll find us there” Walsh explains. The Lions club is international and according to Walsh there are over “3 million members worldwide. Wherever there’s a need you’ll find a Lion, or many Lions there.”
Bonfire goers were able to cook wieners over the bonfire with wiener-sticks provided by the Tumbler Ridge Junior Rangers. Ranger Glenn Miller stated that the bonfire went “really well, there were quite a few people there, a few more than last year.” Rangers Glenn and Jack had taken two days to locate, gather, and prepare the wiener sticks that Tumbler Ridge residents enjoyed roasting their wieners with. The food was donated by Shop Easy.
